Rhythms World Drum Camps are held in Bozeman (at The Emerson). Children ages 5-12 are invited to join Chet Leach (aka Mr. Chet) for week long drum camps. These summer camps will include drumming from Africa, Brazil, Cuba, and Egypt. Your child will learn about World culture through storytelling, games and of course lots of DRUMMING!
Bozeman Camps:
- June 15 thru 19
- June 22 thru 26
- July 13 thru 17
- July 20 thru 24
- Camps meet 9 am to noon each day Monday thru Friday.
Rhythms Camp price is $245. Sibling discounts and scholarships are available. To register your child for this fun, cultural, rhythmic event, please email us at: chet@rhythmdrums.com Include: Parent name, child name, age, phone number, and which camp your child is attending. I will email you back a confirmation letter with details on where to meet, payment, snack, etc. It is my mission to make sure your child has a great time learning about World culture and drumming this Summer. I will take your child on a “Magic carpet ride of rhythm around the World” thru storytelling and drumming!
Chet Leach Bio:
Chet Leach is an award winning children’s educator who began studying drumming at age ten. For the last 28 years he has shared World drumming from his studio, Rhythm Drums, (from 1997 to 2022) located at the Emerson Cultural Center and currently at schools and libraries in Southwest Montana. Chet has made a full time career as music teacher at rural schools in the Galltatin Valley and performs artist-in-residencies at Bozeman schools with his storytelling program “Story of the Drum”. He makes his home is Livingston, Montana with his wife and daughter.
“My son won a small drum kit in a raffle, but it was too small. So we took it to the music store to exchange for whatever he might be interested in musically. He bee lined it for a Djembe drum and said “THIS”, I knew nothing about the art of drumming, so we were referred to Chet. My son started taking lessons, then my daughter joined in, and now they not only take private lessons with Chet but participate in drum circles and workshops. This is the one activity during the week my children look forward too and love. Chet’s energy, enthusiasm, and love of drumming is palpable and contagious. And I have learned it is far more than drumming. He has become their teacher, mentor and inspiration for learning with the heart and mind. Thank You Chet!”
